Fortuna Union High School

Service Learning area!

What is the requirement?

It is required of all students to complete at least 15 hours of community service to graduate from high school. These hours can be completed all at once, or distributed throughout his/her four years of high school.

When are the hours due?

Students have 2 weeks to turn in community service hours after the date of completion. All hours are due within a week of graduation.

 

Where can I turn my hours in?

Forms for community service hours can be found in the office or it may be downloaded from the link on the left. Forms can be given directly to Mr. Odell or placed in his mail box.

What type of activities count as community service?

Community service hours should be done through a school club, community agency, and some school activities. Preapproval of the activities ensures the hours will be accepted. Volunteer time spent with family or relatives will not be accepted.

Where can I find volunteer opportunities?

Some of the typical ways to get community service hours are as follows: Key club, Interact, FFA, Fortuna Creeks Project, SWITCH, Miranda's Rescue, Redwood Memorial Hospital, Fortuna Parks and Recreation, Link Crew, Church groups, Elementary School reading programs, Elementary school sports programs, American Cancer Society relay for life, Homecoming activities, Music performances, Angie Wood fortuna recycling, Friends of the library, volunteer center of the redwoods senior volunteer program.
