The FUHSD staff spotlight this week is Lynsey Molina! Lynsey has worked for our district for eight years. She teaches PE and Foundations at AR. Lynsey currently serves as the Commissioner of the Coast Basketball League and the head coach of the AR team!
Lynsey is from Cordova, Alaska, and used to be a commercial fisherman in Prince William Sound. She was recruited by HSU out of high school to play volleyball and our community is lucky for it! She has been married to her husband, Mike, for three years, and they are parents to a smiley, angelic two-year-old, Iolana. She enjoys spending time outside, hiking in the redwoods, swimming in the rivers and playing volleyball at the beach.
Lynsey is an incredible asset to our district and consistently steps up to support her colleagues and her students!

As a part of their indigenous games unit, AR's PE class was introduced to an adapted version of the Afghan national sport of Buzkashi (adapted because it was deemed impractical, among other factors, to use an actual goat carcass in class)! Alejandra and Emily researched the game and taught the rules to their class before commencing two spirited rounds of Buzkashi that warmed everyone up on this shivery morning!

The 2023 AR Winter Formal at the Wharfinger was a night to remember! The AR Dance Committee raised the bar for themselves once again, with a solid hand with set up from our parents group, ARPAC! The traditions were alive and well, there was as much energy during the last song at 11 PM as there was when things kicked off at 7! Thank you to DJ Statik, the team at the Wharfinger, AR staff on duty, parent volunteers, and students!!! #academyoftheredwoods #wharfinger #fortunauhsd #djstatik #arpac #powerofplace #dontstopbelieving
