In AR's Biology Class, students completed an advanced Microbiology lab in which they used gene editing technology to transform the green fluorescent protein gene into E. coli bacteria. This lab combined their previous knowledge of protein synthesis and antibiotic resistance with a hands-on, rigorous cell biology lab. Pictures include examples of the transformed E. coli bacteria glowing under a UV light compared with the control of non-glowing E. coli on the left.

Congratulations to our award winning Redwood Review student journalists! Our AR journalists took home twelve "Jackie Awards" for excellence in high school journalism in northwest California at Cal Poly Humboldt's annual "Media Day" event.
